Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 2-3-These visually appealing books provide numerous clear details about these nocturnal animals. The layout is particularly appealing, with black pages highlighting the darkness the animals prefer. Each volume begins with "Words to Know." This arrangement provides children with the meanings of new words prior to the reading. Each spread includes a color photograph and highlights a different topic, such as echolocation in Bats, information on the animals' coats in Cats, and predators in Raccoons. The stunning photographs vividly show the animals and will draw in many students. A page of "Fun Facts" concludes each book. These titles will be popular with browsers and are useful for reports.-Christine Markley, Washington Elementary School, Barto, PA (c) Copyright 2010.
