Martin Scorsese’s epic film set in mid-19th century Lower Manhattan tells the story of a young Irish immigrant (Leonardo DiCaprio) seeking revenge against a well-known crime boss and political kingmaker (Daniel Day-Lewis) who killed his father. His personal vendetta soon becomes part of an erupting wave of epic gang warfare, as he and his fellow Irishmen fight to carve a place for themselves in their newly adopted homeland.
