Keera has broken the kingdom's seals and released Fae magic back into the world. Now Keera has been transformed from Halfling into something not even the Fae elders can explain. King Damien has taken one of their own as a hostage, and Keera and her allies must find a way to rescue him before it is too late. While the magic is a boon to many, there are some dangerous powers and creatures that come with it, and the group frantically tries to find ways to destroy this old power. Still dealing with the aftermath of killing her lover, Brenna, and the shocking secret that Killian revealed, Keera must find a way to use her new powers to save the Halfling population from King Damien's blood purge, protect her allies, and overcome the fear and hatred that could swallow everyone. Blair's prose keeps the emotional intensity throughout as Keera deals with her own rage and grief even as she takes responsibility for everyone else. VERDICT The climactic final volume of the "Halfling Saga," after A Vicious Game, is filled with high-stakes action, choices, and consequences. Romantasy fans should add this series to their reading list.--Kristi Chadwick
