'Iwa, a biologist for Maui Forest Recovery Project, has a passion for the flora, fauna, and waterfalls she studies, fighting to keep them safe from a planned eco-resort that will destroy habitat for endangered birds and plants. She is also a musician who performs at her father's restaurant. California golden boy, Dane, one of the best big-wave surfers in the world, is impressed when he sees her perform. She refuses to date surfers, so Dane offers to help her fight the resort. This friends-to-lovers journey takes them into deadly danger, as he surfs the biggest waves on the planet and she takes chances in the back country seeking proof of the presence of endangered species--while the developer is willing to go to deadly extremes to build the resort.
