But when Hailey has a vision predicting a not-so-happy ending for the couple, her mission is clear: help Liam and his fiancée avoid the biggest mistake of their lives. Stopping the wedding while planning Liam's engagement party is no easy feat. And Warren Mitchell--Liam's sexy, irritating best man and Hailey's ...nemesis--is suspicious of Hailey's motivations. Between sleeping with her frenemy and watching her careful plans spiral out of control, Hailey discovers the real cause of Liam's future heartbreak. But now that she knows the truth, will Hailey keep on fighting fate or trust in the love she never saw coming?" --

Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

Snow (the Wild River series) overstuffs this speculative enemies-to-lovers rom-com. Hailey Harris has used her gift for precognition to become a social media--famous life coach, but her reliance on the supernatural leaves her with imposter syndrome. Due to her inability to stop interfering in others' lives and her fears about her powers being discovered, she struggles to keep close friends or find love. When her ex-boyfriend, Liam, returns to their hometown of Malibu engaged to Sonia Banks, a resort heiress, she's rattled. Worse, Sonia turns out to be a big fan and enlists Hailey as her maid of honor. Meanwhile, the best man is Hailey's high school nemesis, pro football player turned coach Warren Mitchell, who blames Hailey for messing up his chance to play on his dream team. Old resentments reignite as the pair are thrown together, but when Hailey has a disastrous vision of Liam and Sonia's future, she enlists Warren's help to break the couple up before the wedding. Unfortunately, the more Hailey tries to make things right, the more things spiral out of her control. The balance between the romantic and the supernatural elements feels slightly off, with both jockeying for attention. The result is comedic but chaotic and disappointingly disjointed. Years after influencer, life coach, and clairvoyant Hailey Harris broke up with her high-school sweetheart, Liam, and had a vision that ruined the career of his best friend, former professional athlete Warren Mitchell, she has lost any tether to her pre-fame life. Using her gift to help clients may mean a successful business, but she's lost any friends who know the real her. When Liam unexpectedly returns to the West Coast, Hailey sees an unhappy ending for his relationship with his new fiancée, Sonia. Determined to help Liam avoid a huge mistake, Hailey attempts to sabotage the upcoming nuptials, gaining an in when she teams up with Warren to plan their engagement party and wedding reception. Unfortunately, the novel's predictable plot wears thin as foreseeable shenanigans ensue, and Hailey must weigh the costs of Operation Breakup against both a burgeoning friendship with Sonia and conflicting feelings for Warren, with whom she's been playing a lackluster game of will-they-or-won't-they. Though readers won't be surprised by the ending, it still feels rushed. VERDICT Snow (A Lot Like Forever) writes a formulaic enemies-to-lovers romance with a speculative twist set in Southern California.--Rachel Alexander
