Review by Booklist Review

This newest offering from the Rebel Girls biographical series presents an array of uniquely gifted women who identify as neurodivergent. Two-page spreads consider each of the 25 subjects, offering one full page of biographical information keyed toward the nature of their neurodivergence, when and how it manifests, and how it affects them in their daily lives and careers. These brief profiles (some entries offer QR codes for additional information) are accompanied by facing full-page full-color portraits. These vibrant illustrations come from a group of 20 women and nonbinary artists whose homes are spread across the planet, and while individual styles and palettes may differ, every contributor has created an arresting visual that enhances and adds nuance to the text. Subjects range from Sarai Pahla, a medical translator, to Poleth Méndes, a shot-putter, to climate activist Greta Thunberg and animal-rights educator Temple Grandin. The text is always respectful and educational. This collection offers engaging introductions to inspiring and reaffirming role models.
