Review by Booklist Review

Psychiatrist Victoria Benning tries to help as her six clients bring her their desperate issues at all hours of the night and day in this twisting tale. Whether it's musicians Dark & Moody, rap artist Mrs. Melody, screenwriter Tyrell, venture capitalist Joe, crooked film director Charles, or mysterious caller Destiny, Dr. Benning encourages them to work toward a positive new direction. But things begin to spin out of control as their behaviors catch up to them. Charles abuses a young woman who wanted a part in his movie and is attacked by her boyfriend. Tyrell's callous treatment of his girlfriend and his unprofessional behavior bring his opportunities to an end. Dr. Benning keeps talking to Destiny when she calls, even though she won't schedule an actual appointment. Most of Tyree's characters are sympathetic, and readers will want them to succeed as Dr. Benning conceives of a way to bring them together. Through a sequence of thrilling turns, the book comes to a shocking conclusion.
