Some Came Running
Streaming video - 1958
Academy Award winners Frank Sinatra and Shirley MacLaine star in this taut drama of a World War II veteran whose return to his Indiana hometown catalyzes change among people whose failures and frustrations have built up the point of explosion in SOME CAME RUNNING. Dave Hirsh (Sinatra--From Here to Eternity) has faced the horror of war and endured the disillusionment of trying to make a living as a writer. When he returns to Parktown, Indiana, Hirsh starts to spend time with goodtime girl Ginny Moorhead (MacLaine--Terms of Endearment), who shares his love of alcohol, with creative writing teacher Gwen French (Marthy Hyer--The Carpetbaggers) and with professional gambler Bama Dillert (Dean Martin--Ocean's Eleven). But Hirsh's return... to Parktown becomes a match tossed into the incendiary passions building in the small Midwestern town. Based on the novel by James Jones (From Here to Eternity).
