Review by Library Journal Review

In their English-language debut, author Lieron and coauthor and illustrator Dahan present an exciting original Sherlock Holmes adventure offering an innovative depiction of the legendary sleuth's thought process as he attempts to crack "the Case of the Scandalous Ticket." The action starts when an old friend of Dr. Watson is found wandering the streets of London wearing mismatched clothing, with grievous injuries and vast holes in his memory. Their quest for answers soon finds Holmes and Watson crisscrossing London, collecting a series of clues that leads them to ponder the connection between a popular magician currently playing at the Royal Albert Hall, a series of kidnappings, and an international conspiracy targeting the highest echelons of British power. Dahan's stunningly fluid, playful illustration utilizes diagrams, maps, inset panels, and double-page spreads to depict the inside of Holmes's head as a vast workshop, which emphasizes the detective's process of analyzing and connecting clues as they accrue and creates an immersive reading experience. VERDICT This totally unique depiction of Sherlock Holmes and Watson is likely to be embraced by fans of Arthur Conan Doyle's original stories and also by those who enjoy abstract or experimental comic art.
