Authors assemble! Jam-packed with 15 stories, this collection has as many big-name artists as blockbuster Marvel movies gather big-name actors. Lincoln Peirce, Jerry Craft, and Nathan Hale, among many others, bring their own distinct styles and voices to a short comic based around a Marvel superhero, from such widely recognizable names as Iron Man to smaller characters, such as Wiccan. But with so many top-line creators, each author only gets six pages per story, and due to these constraints, some stories manage to feel fleshed out with a full arc, while others seem more like character introductions with a simple plot or moral. Regardless, some stories really stand out, such as Jerry Craft's Black Panther take on book censorship and Chris Giarrusso's screwball-comedy portrayal of the Hulk. The artwork is of course beautiful throughout the piece, and the different styles perfectly match the tone for each individual hero while also making each tale stand out from the others. A superhero collection perfect for Marvel fans hoping to sample more than the usual fare.
