Collected here are 10 stories featuring Ito's creepy, unhinged antihero, Soichi, who is a young boy who lives to curse his family members and make life miserable for those around him. Purportedly anemic, he constantly sucks on nails and occasionally shoots them from his mouth, while at other times uses them to nail dolls or straw puppets to trees as he carries out his evil deeds. These stories have classic Ito physical horror and minutely detailed illustrations that fans have come to love from his horror style, but the stories mainly center around Soichi doing terrible things and, mostly, getting away with it. The stories are a little light on the psychological destruction that made him famous in series like Uzumaki and Remina, but that may be what makes this title a little more suitable for school-library shelves than other Ito titles. There are still some shocking and grotesque illustrations as well as ghoulish themes that make this more suitable for older readers, but nothing that would make high-school students have overly terrible nightmares.
