Review by Library Journal Review

Silverman, a child and teen development specialist who hosts a podcast with the same title as this book, believes tough emotions are just an everyday part of life and can be expressed in healthy ways. Her book discusses activities that readers can apply to their own families, including games for parents to play with their child, a feelings wheel, scripts for what to say, and a "quick tips" section. Additionally, this exhaustive reference guide addresses how to handle heavy topics such as death by suicide, phobias, childhood depression, the death of loved ones, racism, sexual assault, and divorce. Silverman guides parents on how to answer questions their children may have about disabilities, adoption, friendships that didn't last, and more. Her book especially shines when she explains how to best support and protect a child who is coming out as LGBTQIA+ and when she demonstrates how parents can help their children develop fortifying ways to tell people how they're feeling. A glossary is provided within each chapter to define common terms. VERDICT A must-have, all-encompassing resource. For parents looking for support and answers.
