Review by School Library Journal Review

PreS-Gr 2--Williams's newest addition to the "Ally Baby Can" series is a child-friendly introduction to antiracism. This book explores simple ways children can be allies in common environments like the playground, classroom, and at home. Specific examples are given in each environment on what systemic racism can look like, and how children can combat it in a simple matter. Antiracist vocabulary is also introduced, which is combined nicely with the illustrations to help children absorb the story. While some of the vocabulary can be advanced for younger children, it can be used as a starting point for a bigger conversation that can lead to understanding of allyship. The glossary is also helpful for children who may wish to read this story independently. A diverse set of characters helps illustrate the point that everyone can do their part to stop racism. VERDICT A wonderful introduction to antiracism for children, using pictures and vocabulary to show how it can be applied into everyday life.--Lauren White
