Baby-Toddler--This adorable board book provides a quick and quirky Halloween haunt for the youngest readers. Equipped with moving parts via a finger slide, this bright orange-and-black book introduces a pumpkin, skeleton, ghost, and cat as they "Flicker! Flicker," "Clickety-Clack," "Wooo-Wooo," and "Leap! Pounce!" respectively, through Halloween. Each image is accompanied by a moving piece that emphasizes the action words. There are also facts on each spread, such as "A human skeleton is made up of 206 bones," and "'Wooo Wooo' is the sound we make when we pretend to be a ghost." Bright colors accentuate the central black-and-white images on each spread, and the finger slide provides a fun surprise and interactive element that elevates this otherwise simple Halloween tale. VERDICT Recommended for public library collections where holiday board books are in demand.--Kristy Pasquariello
