It's bad enough Jane Delaney has to come up with enough money to keep her grandfather's antiquarian bookshop from being sold to pay off her mother's gambling debts, now Jane has an anonymous blackmailer threatening to reveal her own scandalous secret unless payment is made forthwith. So when Jane stumbles across a rare edition of The Canterbury Tales in the personal library of Christopher Marsden, the Duke of Roxby, the temptation to purloin the book is just too great to resist. However, when Christopher catches Jane, much to her surprise, he doesn't propose handing her over to the authorities. Instead, Christopher presents her with a different kind of proposal: marry him. The third engaging addition to Bennett's Byronic Book Club series (Up All Night with a Good Duke, 2022; Curled Up with an Earl, 2023) layers several steamy love scenes into an intriguing plot, enlivened with danger resulting not only from the heroine's dealings with her blackmailer, but also the hero's recent bout with prosopagnosia, a neurological condition that interferes with the recognition of faces.
