Abuela is the best sidekick for Super Luis. Together they protect their fort from intruders (i.e., Luis' little sister), make "super shakes," and give each other "super hugs." But one day Abuela gets sick and is hospitalized. She continues her recovery at Luis' house, but the boy grows worried and sad because Abuela can no longer play. Happily, Luis realizes she will always be his Super Abuela, even after passing her cape to Luis' sister. Vibrant, energetic illustrations swirl with saturated rainbow hues and emit comics-style streaks, stars, and lightning bolts around Luis' superpowered movements. Publishing simultaneously in English as Abuela's Super Capa, this edition's Spanish text is easy to read whether in a classroom setting or sharing one-on-one. An exuberant yet tender portrayal of family and coping with change.
