Baby-Toddler--Amelia is collecting items for her family's ofrenda, the altar they will put together to honor loved ones who have passed on, and she needs help. Readers are able to jump right in and help Amelia find the special items she is looking for. Each spread finds Amelia in a different location, from her house to her garden and the market. A special item can be found in each location, and Amelia asks readers for each time. At last, as all the special items are collected, Amelia's ofrenda for Día de los Muertos is ready. Each spread features shades of black, gray, and white, along with a bold color, such as yellow or orange, and thanks to these identifying colors, kids will be able to locate the items. Amelia's requests are easy to find, with her speech placed inside easy-to-spot circles and shown in both English and Spanish. A final spread includes information about ofrendas and the special items that can be found on them. VERDICT An excellent interactive and informative board book on Día de los Muertos that is sure to lead to many re-reads and to further exploration of this special time.--Selenia Paz
