Martin blends lusty romance with high-octane military action in her fast-paced third Blood Ties: The Logans contemporary romance (after The Last Mile). Both "sex personified" Green Beret Edge Logan and his feisty, gorgeous colleague Skye Delaney at Denver's Nighthawk Security Co. had military careers they loved. Then Edge was forced to resign for speaking out against a shady higher-up and Skye suffered a body- and soul-wounding injury, causing her to return to civilian life. When Skye's sister, Callie, a college dropout at 21, is taken in by the sinister cult Children of the Sun, Skye and Edge make it their mission to extricate her, plunging into a maelstrom of drug cooking, smuggling, organized crime, and murder. All the while, the passion grows between them, deterred only temporarily by Edge's desire to return to the Army and Skye's fears that their intense physical attraction will burn out. Martin gives her well-matched protagonists the help of sexy comrades in arms--many of whom readers will recognize from earlier volumes--and pits them against some appropriately heinous (if slightly clichéd) villains.
