Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

Grant (the Bro Code series) launches her Tickled Pink series with a steamy and heartfelt romance about a socialite and her family adjusting to life in a small Wisconsin town. After the imperious Lightly matriarch, Gigi, nearly chokes to death at dinner one night, the near-death experience makes her terrified she's going to hell. So she uproots her New York dynasty for Tickled Pink, a run-down town immortalized in an old movie as the place one goes to get into heaven. Gigi's haughty granddaughter, Phoebe, is wildly out of place and furious. Teague Miller, a local a fisherman, goat farmer, real estate agent, and single father, is perhaps the only person as upset as she is with her family's presence in his beloved town and he's determined to drive them out. That works out well for Phoebe, who's determined to leave. But as the pair join forces to accomplish this mutual goal, unexpected chemistry grows. Still, a secret from Teague's past threatens to derail their burgeoning romance. Grant brings both passion and wit to this love story, with genuine characters, a charming exploration of Phoebe's growth, and a setup that will put readers in mind of Schitt's Creek. This is sure to put a smile on any romance lover's face. (July)

An heiress with aspirations to run her family's manufacturing empire is relocated to a small Wisconsin town with the rest of her clan. Phoebe Lightly, a born-and-bred Manhattan socialite, finds herself transplanted to Tickled Pink, Wisconsin, after her grandmother Estelle Lightly has a brush with death and decides her family's souls could use some work. For the matriarch, better known as Gigi, this involves multiple viewings of Pink Gold, which inspires her to relocate her family to the town where the movie was shot. The plan is that her son, Michael; his wife, Margot; and their grown children, Phoebe, Tavi, and Carter, will fix up the old high school (which Gigi bought) to transform themselves into better people through good deeds, just like the main character of the movie. Inhabiting the town is Teague Miller, a grumpy lumberjack type who lives in a tiny set of treehouses overlooking his flock of goats and has a secret he's protecting; his teen daughter, Bridget; his ex-wife, Shiloh, and her wife, Ridhi; and a host of other characters. When Phoebe meets Teague, sparks fly, and their cantankerous relationship evolves. The rich-fish-out-of-water story is painted in broad strokes; fans of Schitt's Creek will recognize many themes but may miss the more nuanced storytelling of that TV show. A novel that idealizes small-town folks, a simple life, and the redemptive qualities of manual labor. Copyright (c) Kirkus Reviews, used with permission.
