Review by Booklist Review

Adding lively details and incidents to Underwood's simple "first flight" rhyme, Wedelich follows a bear parent and cub, both of undefined gender, to and through a bustling "bearport" ("Some bears waving, some bears hugging, / some bears racing, rolling, lugging. / Some bears sniffling into tissues, / some bears having suitcase issues") to board a jet liner that takes them to a family reunion. Along the way, they stand in a serpentine security line with other ursine travelers of diverse hue (one wearing a face mask, and two in wheelchairs), grab salmon snacks from the food court before boarding, and, after a delayed takeoff, enjoy being served cups of honey while first annoying and then befriending an older bear in the seat in front. Then there's learning about schedules, tickets, and airplane bathrooms, as well as meeting several other new friends in the course of repeatedly losing toy bear Teddy and getting it back. Veteran young fliers and newbies alike will benefit from this buoyant and properly reassuring rehearsal.
