Winklefuss is an island heavily populated by criminals in hideout. It's a shady cast of characters, including T-Baggs, a mafia boss goldfish; Lacie, a surfer-dudette flamingo; and Jet, a snake who fights with the sock puppet on his own tail. When the customers of Cookie's Diner start falling ill with itchy knees and spotted tongues, it's clear someone is poisoning them, so local sloth sleuth Paz and Librarian Andrews step up to investigate, gathering clues with help from a narrator called "The Shadow." The creator of Kung Pao Chicken has yet again created an action-packed and joke-fueled adventure full of nutty oddballs. With chuckles at the foreground--including an ongoing joke of how many ways the sloth can gain reckless speed (cue skateboards, jet packs, and hang gliders) when she's not grudge-racing a snail--the mystery takes a back seat to the laughs but is still ultimately satisfying. And the artwork is packed with visual punchlines as well; honestly, who doesn't want to see a sloth with a fanny pack on a bouncy ball? Pitch-perfect for the Dog Man set.
