Westermann (founder of EssentialTennis.com) and Chasnoff (188th Crybaby Brigade) explain how to improve tennis skills in this guide designed for players at every level. Each of the 12 chapters has a corresponding page on Westermann's website with video demonstrations and PDF downloads. The bulk of the book discusses the nitty-gritty of tennis: warming up; playing doubles; improving hand-eye coordination; working with the wind direction; effective serving and return of serves; the student-coach partnership; counteracting second-set slump; preparing for a tournament; self-assessment of skills; dealing with moody McEnroe-esque opponents. Throughout the book are case studies from real matches featuring Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer, plus six transformational stories of individuals coached by Westermann who improved their game. VERDICT This trove of advice on improving one's tennis game is highly recommended for beginning, intermediate, and experienced players.--Lucy Heckman
