Author Cano-Murillo's Crafty Chica has grown from a blog to a lifestyle brand, including all manner of products featuring her art as well as several previous books. Sharing her Mexican American culture and love of crafting, the three dozen--plus projects included here range from clothing to home and garden décor to party trimmings and beyond. Most of the projects involve taking an existing item, such as a piece of clothing or picture frame, and customizing it using paint, glue, glitter, beads, papier-mâché, and more. The directions, though clear, expect a certain amount of self-sufficiency from the reader and allow for plenty of creative interpretation. Readers will certainly pick up Cano-Murillo's enthusiastic invitation to celebrate the traditions and culture that are central to who she is, and her encouragement that each reader make each of these projects into a reflection of their own singular self. Readers with a stash of craft supplies will find many uses here, and those without a stash may be inspired to create one.
