Review by Library Journal Review

Snel (Sitting Still Like a Frog) contends that parents can teach mindfulness via interactive stories, simple awareness exercises, and leading by example; she reasons that in a demanding, fast-paced society, mindfulness skills are more critical than ever for both parents and children. Geared for children 18 months through four years old, their parents, caregivers, and other professionals working with this age group, Snel's book uses the frog as a model for helping children learn to befriend their emotions. She emphasizes four main themes: attachment, mindful and loving attention, acceptance and authenticity, and a balance of space and limits. The book's enjoyable mindfulness-building practices include songs, breathing and yoga exercises, and listening to the body. It also covers mindfulness challenges pinned to certain times of day (meal time, sleep time) and health issues (stomachaches, anxiety). VERDICT A fun and easy book for parents of toddlers to teach and practice mindfulness.
