Psychologist Grace is awakened by a burglar who asks her for information about one of her clients. Detective Nate returns to work after a deadly bombing left him injured inside and out. When he's assigned the case after her client is murdered, Nate hopes to become reacquainted with Grace, his college crush. Trying to return to normal life after losing her young daughter to illness and her husband to divorce, Grace helps the police unscramble the clues her client left. Being shot at, kidnapped, and rattled by a car accident do not stop these two from solving the crime and falling for each other. Though struggling with PTSD, Nate nonetheless follows leads while trying to keep Grace alive. The rapidly flowing plot delivers multiple page-turning surprises, but it is Grace and Nate's resilience that is the most appealing aspect of this adventure. Discussions of faith and tragedy add depth and poignancy to an exciting, well-crafted tale of romantic suspense from veteran thriller-writer Harris.--Amy Alessio Copyright 2018 Booklist
