Review by School Library Journal Review

PreS-Gr 2--Playful short prose and active verbs keep the pace humming right along in this age-appropriate yoga exploration. Energetic poses are interspersed with more mindful deep stretches. Bright, bold, and colorful illustrations using hand carved stamps and digital techniques center a friendly, diverse group of children, of all body shapes and abilities. Kids performing yoga poses gently float across the pages, suggesting both movement and great calm. Animals representing each of the seven continents as yoga poses allow for the opportunity for interconnected learning, along with music and video accessible online to fully participate in an immersive experience. Excellent back matter explains the origin and history of yoga and provides instructions for each position and correct name. A visual map of the continents presents each animal's origin and a fun factoid. Less common animals, such as chinchillas or baleen whales, expose children to new vocabulary. Easy yoga directions may require some adult assistance at first. VERDICT An excellent first purchase for any collection. Helpful in a classroom setting to read aloud, or to be used at home for a fun, peaceful, and refreshing yoga session.--Eva Thaler-Sroussi, Wellesley Free Lib., MA
