In 1930s England, Astra Davies is used to jaunting around London enjoying all the things life has to offer. Finding herself at a turning point when her parents are tragically killed in a car accident, Astra must make her next moves count. With debts to pay and business partnerships to deal with, should she move on by her own devices, or should she marry a wealthy gentleman to avoid her woes? Astra is a forward-thinking female with a bright mind and astute wit, so she decides she will make it on her own. At stake is her reputation--not only because she's tinkering in a man's business world, but also because a bullying socialite has it in for her. A full cast of vibrant characters colors the novel. Moore gives Astra the spunk and levity needed to break through her challenges. Readers will be rooting for Astra to overcome her obstacles. Fans of Downton Abbey will enjoy the depictions of grand houses and estates--with maids, butlers, and high society traditions--as well as the changes that women were making for themselves during that time.
