Eason is a master of inspirational romantic suspense, and she takes readers on another wild ride in her latest entry in the Danger Never Sleeps series, following Acceptable Risk (2020). After a traumatic incident, Dr. Heather Fontaine has returned from Kabul to her hometown of Greenville, South Carolina. Nightmares and unease have become the field surgeon's constant companions and she's certain that she's being followed. Returning home after a night out, Heather realizes that someone is in her house, and decides to keep her friends safe by disappearing. Fortunately, Travis Walker, a handsome Texan who runs a security firm, is looking out for her. Heather's stalker troubles bring troubled teen Ryker Donahue into the story, while Heather's revelations about her own childhood abuse and experience in the foster system bring added depth to the novel. The developing romance between Heather and Travis is juxtaposed with dramatic twists and turns that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Series fans will enjoy catching up with old friends, and new readers will have no trouble jumping right in.
