The Boston-based Milk Street culinary team serves up another engaging recipe collection, following the same format as their award-winning 2018 cookbook Tuesday Nights. This time, Milk Street focuses on the flavors and health benefits of Mediterranean cooking and reminds readers of the diversity of the cuisine in this geographic region. Dishes featured here strike a balance between traditional flavors and weeknight preparation ease. The first half of the book groups recipes by the amount of time they require from start to finish; all of the dishes can be on the table in under 45 minutes. Other chapters highlight hearty soups and stews, pizzas, sandwiches, supper salads, pastas, and vegetarian one-pot meals. While the book will engage home cooks at any skill level, the recipes designed for fast preparation are best suited to cooks with mid-level experience because they rely on more exacting culinary techniques and knife work. VERDICT Milk Street's winning formula for creating maximum flavor, balanced with weeknight convenience, shines here, and fans of Tuesday Nights will eagerly embrace this new collection. Highly recommended for all libraries.--Kelsy Peterson, Brighton Grammar Sch., Melbourne, Australia
