Noémie Lafrance: Melt, Descent & Noir

Streaming video - 2004

Known for her site-specific and cinematic choreography, Noémie Lafrance continues to push the boundaries of performance with “Noir”. Inspired by the genre’s seductive femme fatales, and scenes framed in shadow and suspense, Lafrance takes her audience to a Lower East Side parking garage, for a dance experience based on “film noir” of the 1940’s. The audience watches the performance from their cars, witnessing her choreography through the windshields, creating their own frame. Through its setting and narrative Lafrance’s production becomes an immersive live theater experience.
