He Toki Huna: New Zealand in Afghanistan
Streaming video - 2013
He Toki Huna (title taken from Māori proverb, ‘the hidden adze cuts the most sharply’) explores Aotearoa New Zealand’s longest military involvement — the country’s engagement in the war in Afghanistan. The documentary also provides context to some of Afghanistan’s turbulent history before and after the events of 9/11. The film asks three questions: Why did NZ go into Afghanistan? What did they do there? And why did we hear so little about it? (Photo credit: c. Lionel Coninck). .
