Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

"Down the line, it will not be uncommon for people to regularly live to 115 and even 130," writes Roizen (What to Eat When), chief wellness officer at the Cleveland Clinic, in this fascinating guide to extended longevity. To help readers prepare for the "Great Age Reboot," Roizen looks at the history of life expectancies alongside such medical breakthroughs as stem-cell rejuvenation, which can reduce damage to organs; senolytics, which repairs unhealthy cells; and the ability to detect and remove faulty genetic code. Even with such advances, he writes, people must be proactive in maintaining their own health--he recommends a healthy lifestyle consisting of a plant-forward diet that's low in sugar, getting enough sleep, and staying hydrated. A look at "self-engineering" provides readers with ways to "prepare for the changes of tomorrow," beginning with five "Do-It Decisions," which include building a strong community of friends, medical experts, and advisers to help with decision-making. Roizen has a knack for keeping things accessible, and worksheets at the end of each section will help readers get started. Those looking to keep some pep in their step will find plenty to chew on.
