In this sweet story, four animal friends learn they have new neighbors and, one by one, they pile into bear cub Cooper's homemade welcome wagon to go meet them. Along the way, they wonder, What will the new neighbors look like? What are their favorite games? As they get closer, little rabbit Bobbi gets more and more worried that the new neighbors might be weird, or even scary. Bobbi's anxiety is catching, and soon all four friends are apprehensive. It turns out the new people are adorable mice who also happen to be pretty good mechanics--fortunate, because the welcome wagon has lost a wheel. Other than eating cheese on their ice cream, the mice seem nice and interesting. This gentle tale is set in a village populated by diverse animal families who live in wonderfully detailed tree houses on busy streets bustling with activity. The soft pastel illustrations fill pages with familiar activities, and the charming characters display exaggerated expressions that are sure to please. This is a natural for story hour.
