Alexia Ross longs to use the superstrength and invulnerability she inherited from her father, the superhero known as Ironhead, to fight injustice. But her father has other plans--he wants Alexia to follow him as the director of a powerful organization responsible for having ended supercriminal activity worldwide. After her father's sudden death, Alexia is taken by surprise when a woman named Amy crashes his funeral, claiming to be the illegitimate daughter of Ironhead and a villainess named Black Hand. When the arsenal of seized supervillain weaponry held in the organization's museum turns out to be counterfeit, and an old enemy of Iron Head's unexpectedly reappears, idealistic Alexia and cynical Amy join forces on a quest that quickly reveals their father's legacy is more complicated than either ever imagined. This volume collects five single issues previously published online. VERDICT López (Captain Marvel. Vol. 4: Earth's Mightiest Hero) is acclaimed for his work illustrating superhero spectacle, but his writing debut reveals a rich, playful imagination and sophisticated sense of character development in this action-packed superhero/sf family saga.
