Run to ground

Katie Ruggle

Book - 2017

Grieving the death of his partner, Theo Bosco has no room in his life for distractions. Though his instincts scream that he should avoid Juliet 'Jules' Jackson, he can't seem to stay away. It doesn't help that Theo's new K9 companion has fallen head over paws with Jules's rambunctious family. Or that when he's with her, Theo finally knows peace. When Jules rescued her siblings, whisking them away to the safety of the beautifully rugged Colorado Rockies, she never expected to catch the eye--or the heart--of a cop. Yet as Jules struggles to fight her growing attraction to the brooding K9 officer, another threat lurks much closer to home ... And this time, there's no escape.

After arranging to kidnap her four siblings from their abusive stepmother, Jules, with a new identity, is hiding out in a small Colorado town and working as a waitress, only to find herself attracted to and falling for Theo Bosco, a local K-9 cop. As their relationship deepens, it turns out that someone connected to Theo's much-missed late work partner is seeking revenge for his death, and Jules gets caught in the middle. Theo and his dog, Viggy, save her and everybody else, and their relationship solidifies despite all the untold secrets she harbors. Ruggle, author of the popular Search and Rescue romances (including Fan the Flames and In Safe Hands, 2016), kicks off a new series, Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit, with a good read, made particularly affecting by her depiction of how both Theo and Viggy recover from their partner's death by suicide. Jules' siblings and the other two K-9 cops are fun, too.--Chelton, Mary K. Copyright 2017 Booklist
