Review by Booklist Review

In this third book of Ruggle's Rocky Mountain K9 Unit series (Run to Ground and On the Chase, 2017) K9 Officer Otto Gunnersen helps protect a young woman he knows as Sarah, who has escaped the clutches of her crime-family brother, who wants to marry her off to another family. Her brother tracks her down in the small Colorado town of Monroe, where she's hiding. He is then captured, and she thinks she'll finally be free, but the families won't be deterred and send armed helicopters to bomb the town and attack the FBI agents taking him into federal custody. Sarah barely manages to escape with all of Otto's dogs, but still winds up with a final confrontation with her brother that almost gets her and Otto killed. The juxtaposition of violence, the Mob, and crooked cops with a tender love story between Sarah and Otto makes for an exciting read, complete with an ending that hints of more to come.--Chelton, Mary K. Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

Ruggle will delight her readers with the third Rocky Mountain K9 Unit romantic thriller (after On the Chase). Otto Gunnersen, a quiet police officer in the small town of Monroe, is struck speechless by the appearance of a mysterious young woman, Sarah, another "friend" sent to hide in Monroe by the slightly shady Mr. Espina. Sarah is actually Alice, the sister of a notorious criminal; she's escaping an arranged marriage that would cement an alliance between two major crime syndicates. Trust doesn't come easily for her until she meets Otto, her knight in shining boots. His tenderness and love for animals quickly melts her resistance, and the affection of his friends and family seals the deal. However, as expected, danger isn't far behind Sarah. She wants to protect her new friends, including Otto, but they refuse to let her fight alone. Ruggle's colorful tapestry continues the stories of earlier protagonists while introducing readers to new faces, and will satisfy series fans. (Feb.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.
