Astro poets Your guides to the zodiac

Alex Dimitrov

Book - 2019

"From the online phenomenons the Astro Poets comes the first great astrology primer of the 21st century. Full of insight, advice and humor for every sign in the zodiac, the Astro Poets' unique brand of astrological flavor has made them Twitter sensations. Their long-awaited first book is in the grand tradition of Linda Goodman's Sun Signs, but made for the world we live in today. In these pages the Astro Poets help you see what's written in the stars and use it to navigate your friendships, your career, and your very complicated love life. If you've ever wondered why your Gemini friend won't let you get a word in edge-wise at drinks, you've come to the right place. When will that Scorpio texting "u up...?" at 2AM finally take the next step in your relationship? (Hint: they won't). Both the perfect introduction to the twelve signs for the astrological novice, and a resource to return to for those who already know why their Cancer boyfriend cries during commercials but need help with their new whacky Libra boss, this is the astrology book must-have for the twenty-first century and beyond"--

Expanding on the success of their widely adored twitter account, @poetastrologers, poets Dimitrov and Lasky have penned the ultimate map through the zodiac. Recognizing the recent spike in astrological interest, the pair provides an entertaining and straightforward guide to the basics: sun signs, moon signs, rising signs, and more. They then dig deep into the traits of each of the 12 astrological signs. Every sign profile begins with an example of a public figure overtly displaying the attributes of their identity Aries Mariah Carey tanking her 2016 New Years Eve performance without a lick of shame, teary-eyed Scorpio Drake posting a hospital selfie with a fan, etc. The authors include the key quirks of each sign, how they behave as lovers and friends, examples of how they would text with the eleven other signs, a list of public figures born under that sign, and an original poem dedicated to that portion of the karmic wheel. A perfect crash-course for astrology beginners that's lyrical, witty, and wise enough to satisfy old astrology pros.--Courtney Eathorne Copyright 2010 Booklist

Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

Lasky (Milk) and Dimitrov (Begging for It), both published poets, jointly run a Twitter account with 500,000 followers that serves as a guide to the zodiac and forms the basis of this whimsical yet astute volume. In many ways they present a traditional handbook of astrology, giving a basic overview of astrological signs and the ways they manifest in human behavior. But the authors add their uniquely modern flair with plenty of references to contemporary celebrities, erogenous zones for each sign, original poetry written for each sign (such as Cancer: "Everyone thinks that nothing means anything. But you don't. You loved once. Another world. You made a scene about love"), discussions of love and attraction between signs, and clever fictional scripts of text message conversations between those of different signs. The brevity of the introduction outlining the theory behind astrology will likely fail to convince any readers not already committed to the zodiac, but Lasky and Dimitrov are witty and divulge plenty about their own lives, which will entertain readers of all backgrounds. Readers wishing to learn more about their type will be charmed by this splendid handbook. (Oct.)
