Review by Booklist Review

This book collects comic strips from Seluk's webcomic, Awkward Yeti, along with more than 75 original strips that have never appeared online, all depicting the daily struggle between handling adult responsibilities (Brain) and wanting emotional satisfaction (Heart). One strip features Brain very sincerely contemplating how human creative energy could be better spent on cultural enlightenment, while Heart (and eventually Stomach) discuss how cool it would be to have a taco stand on the moon. Although some teens will enjoy the strips in this collection, adult readers will most appreciate them, recognizing some of their own personal conflicts illustrated in Seluk's whimsical, colorful cartoons, all of which appear in large panels with expanses of flat color. Seluk is at his best when Brain succumbs to emotional needs, subverting the dynamic between the two characters, which can occasionally become repetitive. Readers unfamiliar with Seluk's comic will have no trouble jumping into this collection of gag strips.--Kan, Kat Copyright 2016 Booklist
