*Starred Review* Following the online success of her elephant-rug pattern, Rott, in her first book, expands her animal-themed designs beyond rugs to over 20 patterns that include matching pillows, bags, blankets, and other accessories and the original elephant rug. Patterns for all these designs are presented both in pattern text (using American crochet terminology) and a crochet chart. Tools, yarn, and other supplies are neatly explained and listed at the beginning, while stitches and techniques, including those for reading a chart, are clearly illustrated in the back. Left-handed crocheters need not fear, as the author includes instructions on how to adapt the patterns. Each pattern is also assigned a skill level. Beginners should have no trouble making any of the simpler pillows, like the panda or kitty. More experienced hookers can challenge themselves with the charming giraffe security blanket or the lacy-eared-elephant rugs. Dinosaurs, monkeys, and crabs round out the menagerie of winsome critters. Even crocheters without kids in mind will be grabbing their hooks in order to create one of these adorable designs.
