Emily Fisher has one sister getting married and another who has announced her pregnancy. Love is in the air, and Emily's not immune to it. She's set her eyes on Christopher Hochstetler, who has just moved to their community. Handsome and hardworking, he seems like the perfect catch. But Christopher isn't about to let anyone get near him, especially Emily. He's so filled with guilt because he didn't prevent his teenage brother's death that he's put all his emotions on lockdown. Emily is determined to break down the barriers around his heart, no matter how hard that turns out to be. Clipston has written another heartwarming romance, with lifelike characters and a delightfully detailed setting. Having Emily initiate the courtship instead of Christopher is a nice twist. The glossary of Pennsylvania Dutch terms in the front part of the book is most helpful, as are the family trees. The Cherished Quilt is the third book in Clipston's Amish Heirloom series (The Forgotten Recipe, 2015; The Courtship Basket, 2016).--Mosley, Shelley Copyright 2017 Booklist

In Clipston's third outing about the Fisher sisters (after The Forgotten Recipe and The Courtship Basket), Emily wonders when it will be her turn to be married. Meeting new employee Christopher Hochstetler in her father's harness shop, she attempts to befriend him, but the young man, blinded by grief over his brother's death, remains distant. Emily's tenacity and determination slowly cracks open his shuttered heart. However, family trouble calls Christopher back home to Ohio. Undeterred although heartbroken, Emily sends him a quilt in the hopes that he will return to Bird-in-Hand, PA, and to her. VERDICT Clipston's heartfelt writing and engaging characters make her a fan favorite. Her latest Amish tale combines a spiritual message of accepting God's blessings as they are given with a sweet romance. © Copyright 2016.
