Review by Booklist Review

Saltz and her fellow editors at Delish bring their foodie-haven website for home cooks who are hungry for something good to the page in this delightful collection of weekend-worthy foods for every day of the week. Whether trying one of the 31 mix-ins to elevate boxed mac and cheese or choosing from the chapter What the Fork's for Dinner?, home chefs will have fun making food that's perhaps even more fun to eat, and share. And, Saltz and company remind us, Tuesday's dinner can be as laid-back as Saturday's fare. As the first testers-makers of each dish, the editors highlight their favorite recipes throughout, along with occasional Delish tips and tricks. The easy-to-follow steps for each dish are no longer than a page, and color photographs present finished foods that look achievable and, indeed, delish. This is a great and varied collection that will make home cooks excited to get in the kitchen and create fun food any day of the week.--Mary Kravenas Copyright 2018 Booklist

Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

This entertaining cookbook debut by the eponymous food media company celebrates food creativity and simplicity for people who "[love] to eat more than [they love] to cook." The book offers dozens of helpful photographs, as well as plenty of useful tips ("Whack Hack! Toast your own hard taco shell"). Classic food staples are reimagined to become ultimate party foods: grilled cheese, for example, is transformed into grilled cheese dippers served with a tomato soup dip, sloppy joes become stuffing for potato skins, and steak frites are recreated into bite-size pieces skewered with toothpicks. The bulk of recipes include carb-heavy delights, such as garlicky shrimp alfredo bake with penne and a bold Tex-Mex dinner of tequila lime chicken tacos, but the editors make sure to suggest tasty healthy alternatives like parmesan garlic carrot fries. Readers will be particularly impressed with the book's creative, sweeter options, namely Shark Attack Jell-o Shots, a Harry Potter-inspired butter beer pie, and Boston cream pancakes. With recurring phrases in recipe introductions like "WTF," "#brunchgoals," and "OG Delish," and adorned with quotes from movies like Home Alone, Elf, and Mean Girls, this book is aimed at the millennial audience, but cooks of all ages will undoubtedly be inspired.
