Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

In her second cookbook (after Premeditated Leftovers), food blogger Milham thoughtfully addresses the needs of home cooks with busy lives, providing practical yet delectable solutions for breakfast and lunch. The book opens with such accessible egg creations as Caprese egg cups drizzled with a balsamic-honey reduction; ham and broccoli quiches with hash brown crusts; and Cajun egg and pork sausage croissant sandwiches. Her "Quick Breakfast Breads" are equally tempting, with dishes such as jalapeño corn bread waffles and chai-spiced carrot cake muffins. Milham relies on healthy food staples to craft satisfying lunches, such as spaghetti squash noodles with garlic butter sauce; raspberry-balsamic quinoa bowls served with berries and salmon; and taco cauliflower-rice soup. She also provides recipes for hearty salads like chopped steak salad with chimichurri dressing, barbecue salad with broiled pork, and southwestern chicken salad lettuce wraps. There's also a make-ahead dessert chapter with recipes for mocha brownie bites and a raspberry-pear crumble. Throughout, Milham provides helpful time-saving and money-saving tips such as batch cooking, freezing cooked food for future consumption, and reheating techniques. This is a great go-to guide for do-ahead breakfast and lunch preparations. (May) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

Milham follows Prep-Ahead Meals from Scratch with new make-ahead and freezer-friendly breakfasts and lunches. Practical, inexpensive recipes such as pizza breakfast cups, Catalina chicken taco pasta salad and hearty steak and mushroom stew heavily favor Italian, American, and Mexican flavor profiles. While the recipes may strike some readers as utilitarian, they'll thrill meal prep enthusiasts who like to batch-cook on weekends. VERDICT Recommended for busy families, this title pairs well with its predecessor and Polly Conner and Rachel Tiemeyer's From Freezer to Table. © Copyright 2018.
