Review by Library Journal Review

The Durrell family left England in the 1930s to live on Corfu and start a new chapter of their lives. Now after several years, the laid-back island is truly home. Son and author Lawrence (Josh O'Connor) is writing another novel. His socially awkward brother Leslie (Callum Woodhouse) has become a Corfu policeman. Much to everyone's surprise, Leslie has three girlfriends, one of whom is pregnant. Youngest son Gerald (Milo Parker), who as an adult wrote the trilogy about the family's Corfu years upon which this series is based, continues to explore the island's natural history, a preview of his future vocation. Daughter Margo (Daisy Waterstone) finally has a serious job. And their widowed mother Louisa (Keeley Hawes), who has been unlucky in love while on the island, is disappointed yet again. Verdict A totally engaging series filled with unconventional characters and amusing situations; an A+ choice for public libraries.-Joan Greenberg, Warminster, PA © Copyright 2019.
