Review by School Library Journal Review

K-Gr 2-In this follow-up to Fenske's We Need More Nuts, two squirrels who once adored nuts now decide there can be too much of a good thing. They attempt to persuade readers to take the nuts away by pleading and offering them as a gift. They've had enough of nuts for every meal, they explain over and over. This slight story offers rhyming text and cartoon illustrations. Words and a few phrases are repeated, which will help newly independent readers feel successful. Context clues in both the story and the cartoon drawings offer hints about possibly new vocabulary ("queasy," "hoard"). The story ends somewhat abruptly, as, presumably, readers are not persuaded to take the nuts and chooses instead to close the book. VERDICT Purchase where books a step above emergent readers are needed, and where the first title is popular.-Mary Kuehner, Arapahoe Library District, CO © Copyright 2018. Two squirrel brothers stuff their mouths with nuts in We Need More, then implore the reader to take them away by Please, No More--they "cannot stand their guts." The cartoony characters relate the humorous narratives solely in speech balloons on cleanly designed spreads. The rhyming texts are nicely repetitive and have an energetic (if silly-frantic) beat.
