Review by Library Journal Review

Having escaped his war-torn homeland, a Syrian refugee (Sherwan Haji) is denied legal asylum in Helsinki but evades deportation and finds work at a restaurant run by a compassionate entrepreneur (Sakari Kuosmanen) with a decidedly different sort of settlement concern. Directed with droll but sympathetic wit, Aki Kaurismäki's (Le Havre) film explores incendiary immigration issues while maintaining an emotional distance. The stately pace and quiet camera work may be an acquired taste, but the style is a nice break from the more typical attention-deficit-oriented production. © Copyright 2018.
