This crafts book is full of charm (and occasional awkward translations). Chinese author-artisans Fang and Yunyun have achieved their mission: to keep some of the most beautiful, most ephemeral things in the world flowers for a much longer time. Two dozen beauties, some recognizable worldwide, others foremost familiar in the East, fill most of the book. Each paper-flower project includes detailed directions via step-by-step captioned color photographs, and an illustrated list of materials and tools needed, from specific papers to knurling tools. The authors also include lyrical notes on each bloom's history, solar term represented, and the language/symbol of that particular flower (for example, roses mean I miss you). Beginning chapters capture the unique personality of paper flowers their lines, asymmetry, and fit with their environment along with the rather lengthy preparations needed to produce an arrangement.
