Review by Booklist Review
The subtitle of Thames' first book nicely sums up the purpose of this guide: achieving financial independence through simple living. The author begins her story post-college, when she is living in Brooklyn and newly married. She and her husband then move to Washington, D.C., and then Boston looking for the perfect careers and the right environment to start a family. When in Boston, they decide to stop striving and start living. With a baby on the way, they formulate a plan to save money to purchase a house in New England and live a life of sustainable frugality. Fast-forward to 2018 with one child, and expecting a second, and a home in Vermont where they live a minimalist lifestyle. Thames is a good storyteller, and the book will appeal to young people who are struggling with life decisions as well as those over 40 who have decided what they want out of life. Recommended for public libraries, especially those in the Northeast.--Bulson, Christine Copyright 2018 Booklist
