What happens when you need to take a nap but your only wake-up call is from a sloth? Tigre is enjoying the jungle breeze when suddenly he feels sleepy. He asks a nearby coati if he could wake him up in 10 minutes. So begins a pattern, as we see one animal ask another for a wake-up call, until we arrive at the last animal, a very, very sleepy sloth. This ideal choice for a read-aloud uses repetition to help children anticipate what's going to happen next, thereby engaging the reader. The exotic animals, meanwhile, introduce children to other creatures of the natural world.
