In this second installment in the Microsaurs series, Danny and Lin's modified remote-control car loses a race against Victoria Van-Varbles' store-bought car. Not to be outdone, Lin demands a repeat race later in the day. Then she and Danny dash off for the Microterium a secret lab devoted to mini dinosaurs where a tattered box from Professor Penrod awaits them. With the aid of the Mini-Maxitron Reduction Nozzle, they shrink themselves and, disregarding the cryptic message that the contents may bite, release a pack of tiny raptors. As Danny and Lin scurry to corral the raptors, they catch sight of an egg still cradled in the box. Can they protect the egg, corner the raptors, and make it to their rematch against Victoria? Following the same format as in the first book (Microsaurs: Follow that Tiny-Dactyl, 2017), Hansen's imaginative, energetic story carries the feel of a video-game adventure. With its emphasis on technology, this light sci-fi romp provides a fun way for readers to make STEM connections or simply frolic among the dinosaurs.--Petty, J. B. Copyright 2017 Booklist

Gr 2-4-In this sequel, Danny and Lin are now in charge of the secret lab with the tiny dinosaurs that they discovered in Follow That Tiny-Dactyl. While the professor is continuing his research elsewhere, he sends Danny and Lin a mysterious egg. Their bravery is put to the test when they face some hungry dinosaurs and a surprise waiting to hatch from the egg. The black-and-white illustrations add to the text and make this story a page-turner. Despite the novelty of the miniscule dinos in this series, there's not much else to make this chapter book stand out from the crowd. VERDICT Buy where the first book flies off the shelves like a tiny-dactyl or where dino enthusiasts are in the market for funny fiction.-Patrick Tierney, Dr. Martin Luther King Elementary School, Providence © Copyright 2017. In Follow That Tiny-Dactyl, friends Danny and Lin discovered Professor Penrod's secret lab. Now they are caring for the professor's miniaturized dinosaurs while he's away, but the arrival of a tiny package creates big trouble. The fast-paced action, plentiful cartoonlike illustrations, and an appended section of oviraptor facts should appeal to series fans, who will likely overlook the exaggerated writing and flat characters.
