Review by Library Journal Review

Inspired by Leo Tolstoy's novella The Forged Coupon for his final film, French master of minimalism Robert Bresson (Pickpocket; Diary of a Country Priest) follows the money trail when a pair of teens pass off a counterfeit bill to a proprietor, who, in turn, knowingly passes the fake note to an unsuspecting delivery man. In a parable told in the director's signature stark style-no music, terse dialog, with a studious avoidance of traditional drama-this digitally restored rumination on the ruinous consequences of unethical behavior for a hapless innocent is "starkly" devastating.
